With the incessant emergence and development of technology, the use of e-communication has become more prevalent. E-communication has now become a necessity. It is now a part of our daily lives and I believe that it will continue to be so until new developments or innovations are discovered.

Ever since the internet was introduced, it has gained a steady increase in popularity and usage as a medium for communication. It has become an online community where people can post and share their own ideas and sentiments as well as those of others. The same thing applies for mobile or cellular phones. Everyone has become more connected because of this innovation. People no longer need to wait a long time to send or receive a message. Everything has become instant because of this technology.

There are a lot of benefits and things to consider when using e-communication. First is speed, the time required for a message to be transmitted has definitely shortened. Before, we needed to wait for days and weeks for a message to be delivered. We also had to wait weeks to receive a reply. But, because of e-communication, messages, information and documents can now be readily sent and received in a matter of seconds. This makes the use of e-communication fast and reliable. However, bear in mind that the speed of sending and receiving information depends on the quality of your connection.

Second is permanence, anything that gets posted online will forever be available online. Information posted online will always remain in the servers and because of this it will be difficult to track down and delete information that has already been posted online. However, if the information is too sensitive or if it violates human rights the government or authorities have the right to track down and delete the said information.

Third is cost of distribution, you only need to have a working device and a stable internet connection to be able to send and receive information. It’s no longer as costly and time consuming as creating printed materials. Due to technology, people are now marketing their ideas and products online. Having a physical store is no longer a need.

Fourth is accessibility, you can communicate with anyone regardless of the time or location as long as you have a device that can be readily connected to the internet. With e-communication, almost anything can be done with the touch of your hand.

Fifth is security and privacy, whenever you join or sign-up for social networking site or website you will need to answer several questions to confirm your identity. Security measures are set-up to protect an individual’s identity and information. However, this does not guarantee complete security and privacy. Therefore, always bear in mind that whatever is posted online will always be online. Anything that is meant to be private must not be posted online.

Last is sender authenticity, since security measures are now required you may now check whether the message you have received came from a trusted individual or organization.

With all of the benefits listed and explained briefly previously, you may have realized that there are a lot of benefits in learning e-communication. Anyone who uses e-communication must always follow the proper guidelines to help avoid future problems or dilemmas that are usually caused by miscommunication. You may maximize the benefits if you know its purpose and if you know how to use it properly. Knowing how to properly use e-communication will help create a better community online.
